In line with Elon Musk’s increasing rhetoric on X of going back to the good old days, Tesla looks like it’s finally getting ready to open its 1950s-style diner.
Tesla is seeking a Tesla Diner Experience Specialist in Los Angeles to work with the charging operations team to ensure “exceptional customer experience at the Tesla Diner,” according to a job posting on LinkedIn , first spotted by the blog Drive Tesla Canada.
The job post comes three years after Tesla filed three trademarks for its brand under restaurant services, and seven years after Musk began publicly discussing the idea of a Tesla charging station-meets-diner.
Tesla posted the job two weeks ago on LinkedIn, and it received 26 applications before the automaker stopped accepting resumes. While the job posting doesn’t provide a timeline for opening, it gives other clues about the Tesla Diner. For example, it looks like Musk is making good on his promise to include a drive-in movie theater.
In 2018, Musk tweeted : “Gonna put an old school drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in LA.” He followed up with: “And an outdoor screen that plays a highlight reel of the best scenes in movie history.”

Hopefully it won’t just be Tropic Thunder on repeat.
The experience specialist will manage the drive-in movie schedule and content changes as well as a host of other digital tasks. The job description details how the role will work with several Tesla teams, including design studio, merchandise, UI, app, procurement and leadership, as well as external vendors, to handle everything from rolling out new menus to selling Tesla merch.
The Diner’s location will be at 7001 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, according to PropertyShark data . The property is classed as a one-story restaurant/cocktail lounge/tavern, but videos detailing construction on the site appear to show a two-story building. Building plans reveal that Tesla plans to operate the restaurant and charging station 24/7, but the two outdoor movie screens will be limited to 7am to 11pm daily. There will be about 30 Tesla supercharging stations.
Musk described the diner in August 2023 as “Grease meets The Jetsons with Supercharging” and said it “should be ready later this year.” The billionaire executive is known for his over-ambitious timelines. Earlier this year, he said Tesla’s robotaxi would be revealed in August, but pushed back that date to October .
